Using our images

You are welcome to link to any page of the archive. If you would like to use one of our images for editorial, educational or commercial purposes — online, in print or in an exhibition — please ask first at mail(at)herbal-archive.com. Tell us which image you mean (the page address or the specimen's HA number), where and how you would like to use it, and we will get back to you with terms.

When an image is licensed, please credit it as "© Herbal Archive" together with the creator named on the page.

Historical images

Historical botanical illustrations, nature prints, cyanotypes, photographs and herbarium sheets shown in the archive — for example by Pierre-Joseph Redouté, Johann Hieronymus Kniphof or Anna Atkins — are in the public domain. Each one is credited to its original maker and source where it appears. We claim no additional rights in our reproductions of these works.

Images submitted by contributors remain © their creators and are shown with their permission. Works by contemporary artists presented in our features remain © the respective artist. For these images, please contact us and we will put you in touch with the rights holder.
