Yellow anemone
Anemone ranunculoides, commonly known as the yellow anemone, is a spring-flowering perennial native to Europe. It is easily recognized by its bright yellow, buttercup-like flowers, which distinguish it from the more familiar white wood anemone. The species name ranunculoides means “resembling a buttercup,” reflecting this similarity. Like other anemones, it spreads slowly by underground rhizomes, forming soft carpets in deciduous woodlands. In folklore, anemones were often linked to fleeting beauty and the arrival of spring, as their flowers appear briefly before the forest canopy closes.
