Snowdrop

Galanthus nivalis, commonly known as the snowdrop, is a small perennial bulb native to Europe. It is instantly recognizable by its nodding white flowers with inner petals marked in green, often emerging through snow in late winter. The species name nivalis means “of the snow,” highlighting its exceptionally early flowering. Snowdrops have long been symbols of hope and renewal in European folklore, and their appearance traditionally marked the turning point from winter toward spring. Unlike many early plants, Galanthus nivalis is adapted to cold soils and low light, allowing it to bloom when few others can.
