Horse parsleySmyrnium perfoliatum

Smyrnium perfoliatum, commonly known as perfoliate alexanders or horse parsley, is a biennial or perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe and Western Asia. It is characterized by its unique perfoliate leaves, which appear to wrap around the stem. The plant produces clusters of small, yellow-green flowers in umbels that bloom in late spring to early summer. Smyrnium perfoliatum is often found in woodland edges, hedgerows, and meadows, where it adds a touch of greenery and subtle beauty to the landscape. Historically, it has been used as a culinary herb, with its young leaves and stems having a flavor reminiscent of celery and parsley.
